Therefore, the nouns of a-stem, i-stem, u-stem and R-stem will be found in the entry forms of ApteÕs Practical Sanskrit English Dictionary. Delhi 1986 1) The Romanize a) Long vowels of a, i and u are romanized as Òaa,Ó ÒiiÓ and Òuu.Ó b) Voweled r and l are romanized as ÒRÓ and ÒL,Ó and the long vowel of these sound stand for ÒRRÓ and ÒLL.Ó c) Nasals are romanized ÒG,Ó ÒJ,Ó ÒN,Ó ÒnÓ and Òm.Ó d) Retroflexs are romanized ÒT,Ó ÒTh,Ó ÒDÓ and ÒDh.Ó e) Sibilants are romanized Òz,Ó ÒSÓ and Òs.Ó f) visarga is romanized as ÒH.Ó g) anusuvaara is romanized as ÒM.Ó 2) Sandhi All sandhis are neglected For example. azvas = azvaH (Text - form) punas, punaH = punar (Text - form) manaH = manas (Text - form) dhaana = dhaanam (Text - form) etc. 3) The compounds are analyzed into pada except technical terms, and every words of a compound are conected by hyphen. And also, the suffix ÒtvaÓ or ÒtaaÓ will be divided in the cases when they means Òbecause ofÓ or Òas.Ó 4) The nouns are analyzed into the next form to search in the entry form.
